Carbon Certification Scheme
The Carbon Certification Scheme recognises and celebrates businesses commitment to climate action
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Certifications are awarded to organisations based on their progress and commitment to tackling the climate crisis. CCA members can apply for any of the three levels (Climate Foundations, Climate Steward, Climate Champion) as well as the Adaptive and Resilient certification for organisations strengthening their climate preparedness.
More information on the 2026 scheme, including eligibility and the evidence required for each badge, is outlined here. Applications for the scheme will open in February 2026.
CARBON CERTIFICATION LEVELS
- Level 1 – Climate Foundations: Awarded to organisations starting their climate action journey and demonstrating initial commitment to act
- Level 2 – Climate Steward: Awarded to organisations showing sustained progress on climate action, with evidence of action across multiple areas of their business
- Level 3 – Climate Champion: Awarded to organisations demonstrating climate leadership by reducing emissions, supporting local initiatives, and maintaining a long-term commitment to a sustainability
- Adaptive & Resilient: Awarded to businesses taking proactive steps to prepare for and adapt to climate impacts, strengthening their resilience over time.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- Benchmarking – Understand your environmental performance and how you compare to businesses in Camden.
- Reporting – Be part of the CCA annual carbon report and contribute to the aim of being a net zero carbon borough by 2030.
- Branding and marketing – Use the certification to demonstrate your environmental credentials to your customers, staff and partners.
- Guidance and support – Get advice on how you can improve your performance and have the opportunity to share your expertise and network with other local businesses.
