Connecting business with community climate action

Over the past year, the Camden Climate Alliance has worked with Think & Do London on another phase of Climate Connectors – bringing businesses and community organisations together to share skills, expertise and resources and turn climate ideas into action.

The programme has seen strong engagement from across the CCA network:

  • 200+ CCA members engaged
  • 61 matchmaking forms submitted
  • 38 matches made between businesses and community organisations
  • 20 projects delivered or in progress
  • 346 hours of business volunteering
  • £8,283 in monetary donations to support community climate projects

The projects supported have ranged from community greening and creating new wildlife habitats, to business development and specialist decarbonisation advice.

Some examples include:

  • Depaul UK – an underused garden was transformed into a thriving green space, supported through a hyper-local connection with a nearby business
  • Curnock Estate – businesses came together to create new wildflower areas and support community greening, including through planting and materials
  • Friend’s House – specialist support is helping identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy performance

The programme has also shown the appetite among businesses to contribute their time, expertise, funding and materials to community climate projects. As well as the 346 hours of volunteering and £8,283 in donations, businesses have provided pro-bono expertise and donated materials to support projects across Camden.

While this programme has now come to an end, new opportunities for businesses to support community climate projects will continue to emerge through the Camden Climate Alliance.
